He Shou Wu Extract

powder 2oz

(Latin Name: Polygonum multiflorum)
(Also known as: Fo-Ti, The Black-Haired Mr. He’s Root, Longevity Vine)

Brief History & Origin

He Shou Wu is the Root of Vital Essence and Longevity, one of the most revered tonic herbs in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The name means “He’s Black Hair,” referring to the legendary Mr. He, who, after consuming this root daily, restored his youthful vigor and transformed his gray hair back to black. For centuries, Taoist monks and herbal alchemists have used He Shou Wu to nourish the blood, replenish Jing (life essence), and slow the aging process.

In Chinese folklore, this root is considered a gatekeeper of vitality, promoting long life, sexual vitality, and spiritual clarity. Prepared (cured or processed) He Shou Wu is distinct from raw root—it is steamed with black bean broth to unlock its deep tonic properties, transforming it from a harsh laxative into a gentle elixir of longevity.
